Jacob’s Creek Shiraz 2008, Australia.

When I smelled and tasted this wine, music wasn't necessarily the first sound that came to mind. It was the sound of some guy named Jacob walking across some “creaky” wood flooring – the same kind of planks that barrels are made of and added into certain wines to give them that wood barrel taste. The 3 Stones Sauvignon Blanc came with a strong recommendation from wine store clerk as a “knock-out” bang for the buck wine. Selling for $12.99 in the province of Ontario I gave it a roll. Lindemans Bin 99 Pinot Noir 2009, South Eastern Australia

The first thing that strikes you about the Lindemans Pinot Noir is the colour. It's really dark. Approaching Malbec dark. With some reasonable oak on the nose, the wine does not smell any significant grape derived fragrances. The wine is refreshingly juicy and the raspberry is very easy to pick out – it doesn't take long for that flavour develop in the mouth and it makes you gulp it down because it might outstay it's welcome if you swish it around. The 2010 Kim Crawford Sauvingon Blanc came from an interesting growing season in Marlborough that most drinkers will be able to distinguish this vintage from others.
